How to Help: Legal Assistance
We welcome attorney volunteers from the private bar, whether they attend clinics or accept pro bono referrals in their areas of specialization. Attorney volunteers use their legal skills to give back to the community, and learn about new areas of law in the process. Your volunteer work is covered by Shelter Legal Services’ malpractice insurance. Some ways to volunteer include:
Attend clinics and consult
with clients
Accept pro bono referrals
Develop mentor
relationships with law student volunteers
Conduct outreach
presentations at shelters and social service
agencies
How to Help: Fundraising and Donations
We understand how many attorneys want to offer pro bono representation, but cannot due to long work hours and family responsibilities. Your tax-deductible financial support allows us to hire more attorneys, open new clinics, and provide services to more clients. See our webpage on Giving for more information.
