If you want help from Shelter Legal Services
Our legal services are professional, confidential and free-of-charge. You do not need an appointment, and you will be seen in the order you arrive. In most cases, you will be interviewed by two law school students who are trained by Shelter Legal Services. The interviewers will take down information about your case so they can discuss it with our on-site supervising attorney.
To qualify for legal representation, you must be low income, you must be eligible for one of our clinic sites, and your case must fall under one of our service areas.
Low income means your income cannot be higher than 187% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Consult this chart to see if your income qualifies:
| Number in Household | Annual /Monthly Income Limit |
| 1 | $19,093 / $1591 |
| 2 | $25,600 / $2133 |
| 3 | $32,108 / $2676 |
| 4 | $38,616 / $3218 |
| 5 | $45,123 / $3760 |
We do not accept criminal cases. We do not accept cases that are fee generating, such as personal injury or medical malpractice.
